Pokemon-Draw me wings and Fly by rueyeet Pokemon-Draw me wings and Fly by rueyeet
Amelia, my Flying Smeargle.

A while ago, while playing Pearl, someone reminded me that Smeargle can learn ANYTHING via Sketch. I promptly caught myself a female Smeargle, had her Sketch Fly, and named her Amelia.

When I told my sister's family about it (they are Poke-fans too) I wondered aloud how it was that the wingless Smeargle could use Fly.

And my nephew answered, with perfect child-logic, "They use Sketch to draw wings, then they use Fly."

Sounds good to me.

Done with Scribbles, a shareware drawing program for Mac, and screencapped via Grab because I don't yet have a license for Scribbles.

Did you know that Smeargle can learn Transform too?
What you have to do is have the Smeargle use fly (before Ditto attacks), then have the Ditto use Transform, but it will fail because it's in the air and all Pokemon have a chronic fear of looking up.
Since Sketch works by copying the move, but only if the other Pokemon has it, copying would normally be impossible because transforming changes the moveset, making Transform disappear by the time it could normally be sketched, ie impossible.
When the Smeargle lands, Transform will be the last move used, and it will be in the Ditto's moveset, thereby being able to be sketched. Unless of course the Ditto manages to Transform after you land, which would be an annoying waste of time. I think a Double Battle would be a good environment for attempting such a feat, or possibly a very well timed wild encounter.

Sounds like it'd work!

Though the problem with Transform is, it copies type and moveset, but doesn't change stats; and Smeargle aren't real great in the stats department.

Yeah I know X_x
Though that's probably intentional, to balance it out considering.
Though just seeing someone's reaction to a transforming Smeargle in battle would be worth it I think x3

It could definitely mess with an opponent's battle strategy. XD

That is so cool! I love the colors in the wings...like an artist's palate. Your nephew likes it too!

Heh, I'm glad he likes it, since it was pretty much his idea. Thanks!
