WARNING: Zelda ahoy

Color reference for the main characters of The Minish Cap, the installment of the Zelda series released early last year for the Game Boy Advance. It didn't turn out as badly as I thought after being colored, despite the sloppy linework, so it goes in the gallery instead of scraps.

Spoilers follow, so if you expect to play the game and care about that sort of thing, stop reading now. If you don't care about this regardless, you can also stop reading now.

If you've ever even slightly heard of the Legend of Zelda, the Princess (that damn Princess!) and Link are self-explanatory. The guy on the right in blues with the red-eyed stare is the villain--basically he wants to be the Greatest Sorcerer Ever. The joke of this is that he's originally one of the Minish, a tiny race of critters no bigger than your thumb. They're the ones who leave all that stuff--rupees, etc.--lying around in the grass and such for Link to pick up.

That hat he's got on is a magical wish-granting hat, made by his former master Ezlo, reknowned sage and craftsman of the Minish folk. Vaati stole this magical hat from him, and wished to be a Powerful Sorcerer. After which he promptly turned Ezlo into a hat, turned himself into a human, came to our world, and set about stealing the mysterious and legendary Light Force from the people of Hyrule so that he would be the Most Powerful Formerly Tiny Thing Ever.

When he doesn't find the Light Force, he turns Zelda to stone. Guess what Link gets to do! Again! Yep, save Zelda and Hyrule. Except this time he's stuck with a talking hat. Not as annoying as Navi, not by a long shot, but still irritating.

Vaati amuses me ENTIRELY too much. More on this to follow, at some point....
